Dialogue Lists

Dialogue Lists

Dialogue lists are a key element in many audiovisual projects. They consist in the complete transcription of all dialogues pronounced in an audiovisual product, and they sometimes indicate the exact time (hour, minute and seconds) each line is pronunced (the so called TC, time code). They are extremely important to all the professionals who work on the project, including its localizers, who use it as a reference during the script adaptation or the subtitling process.

How and when is it carried out? To transcribe an oral text means writing down everything that is audible within a product. Transcription can be more or less faithful to the audio track and, depending on the need of the client, some grammatical elements can be adjusted in order to make the final text more suitable for publication.

Where is it used? You can transcribe any multimedia product and, broadly speaking, any product that presents an audio track, from conferences to interviews, from podcasts to films.

What are its main features? Dialogue lists are a text containing the transcription of all the dialogues pronounced in a multimedia product. They are fundamental when working on an audiovisual product, and they are used as a reference for many post-production/distribution steps. They include the characters' names, their dialogues, scene changes, on-screen captions and, often, time codes (TC).

Where is it used? You can create a dialogue list of any type of audiovisual product, including short films, films, tv series and documentaries.

We can create and translate dialogue lists in several languages, and we can deliver them with different layouts, depending on the need of our clients. For instance, if a dialogue list were to be used as a reference for the dialogue adaptation and the following dubbing process, we can add key elements such as on-screen captions and characters' names. Translation can also be added to the creation of a dialogue list. Every project is customized according to our clients' needs.

We offer localization packages that include different services both for pre-production (such as translation of screenplays, summaries and so on...) and post-production (such as the creation of dialogue lists, translation, script adaptation for dubbing, standard subtitling and subtitling for the Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing.
